Trending colour combos 🎨
“As we come into autumn and winter we’re seeing a shift into warm earthy browns, terracotta reds and rich plum purples like Brown 02, Red 01 and Purple 03. The terracotta shades especially are going to be really big in 2025. People are mirroring the same warmth in their hardware pairings. So if they’re going for a rich red or brown they’re pairing it with Brass hardware or more of a modern antique finish.
The resurgence of silver tones we saw in spring and summer isn’t going anywhere either, as we’re especially seeing Stainless Steel hardware being paired with blues, like Blue 04 and Blue 10. These also happen to look great with richer, warmer accents, like browns and terracotta reds.”
How to match paint with hardware 🤝
“An easy way to get a cohesive feel is to look at your dominant paint colour in a room (e.g. the colour you’ve used the most) and choose hardware to match it. For example, if you’re going for a warm colour, Teal 01 or Blue 08, or a neutral like White 03 or Beige 01.
go for warm coloured hardware like Brass.
Similarly, for a cooler tone like White 04, Blue 06 or Green 04, opt for Stainless Steel hardware to complement the grey and blue undertones.
As a design rule of thumb, when it comes to mixing metals, I’d generally advise not mixing more than two finishes.”
Styling a narrow hallway 🚪
“I always encourage people to think about how you use the space, as that’s so important.
In hallways specifically, most of our decorators want these spaces to feel warm and welcoming, especially if you’re leaving the house early when it’s dark, and getting back when it’s dark in winter. Go for colours with a warm undertone, like yellow or pink. They don’t have to be dark or particularly bold colours, for example Pink 01, White 06, Taupe 03 and White 03 are great for hallways and still feel light and timeless too."
In narrow hallways, I’d always say paint your walls and woodwork (including doors) in the same colour and paint your ceiling in a complementary white. This will help create an effortless feel, absorb shadow and still feel super designed."
Tips for smaller nooks 💡
“In smaller nooks, I’d encourage you to go a bit bolder. A warm mid-tone, like Red 03, Orange 02 and Pink 08, will create a lovely pocket or colour that can be complemented with layered lighting for a cosy, intimate feeling.
If your nook is near a window, draw inspiration from what’s outside. Greens like Green 02, Green 19 or Green 01 are known as nature’s neutrals and are super easy on the eyes too for creating a really relaxing space.”
