Despite Allie moving into her Essex family home years ago, she halted reno' plans for the sake of her kids. She now spends her spare time tweaking her home, one DIY at a time. Having recently transformed her home office from dated to dream-like, Allie’s patience truly paid off 💪 Typically found potting plants or creating moodboards, Allie sits down for a TEA BREAK to chat about her vision & home office transformation.
The ‘forever home’ 🏡
"We moved to our forever home about 6 years ago, it has lots of space for a busy family of five and a great garden space. The children were small and all-consuming, so updating the house took a backseat for the first couple of years. Finally getting stuck in over the last few years, we were braver with colour & textures to try and create a space that really felt like home.
The best advice I can give is to simply live in your house to get a feel for it. It's good to know where the sun falls in the house throughout the day to help plan your rooms. "
Strategic home office plans
"When planning the home office, I created a moodboard to see how the colours worked together. We wanted the space to feel relaxed and comfortable, positioning the desk so you can look out into the garden and have the doors open. For the table top, we used scaffold board wall-to-wall since we wanted to create a large space & maintain a rustic feel throughout our house. We tucked kitchen cupboards underneath the desk to house the printer and hide gaming equipment "
