Top 6 Interiors Trends For 2023

With a new year comes new trends. For 2023, here are a handful of trends about to take the interiors world by storm ⛈

Trend predictions for 2023 💭

Interior design trends for 2023 include new styles and new materials, all with the aim of creating moods of serenity or boosting feelings of positivity. Want your living room to feel playful, yet poised? Art-deco and bold, graphic styles like brutalism and bauhaus are in. Mix clean, geometric shapes and primary colours with solid materials, like glass and ceramics 🤝
Now more than ever, the interior design world prioritises comfort and functionality, whilst still after a refined look. That means moving towards sustainable materials and natural textures, including wood and cork. Maximalism and minimalism are now meeting somewhere in the middle. No more layered rugs, as we’re now prioritising practicality, and let’s admit – we all want the colour and energy that is missing from untextured, minimalist spaces ✅

We know that’s a lot to digest. Let’s break down the most popular interior design trends for 2023, and how you can incorporate them into your home 🏡

1. Sustainable materials ♻

In 2023, we’re all about making sustainable choices. That includes sourcing secondhand pieces of furniture from marketplaces or embracing hand-me-downs. Any piece of furniture can be given a new lease of life, with just a tool box and some inspiration. If you don’t have time to get your hands dirty, you can source pieces of furniture that have already been upcycled 🌎
When choosing materials for your home, consider natural, low-carbon or recyclable materials. Here are some of the options you can expect to see in homes throughout 2023:

Cork & Aluminium

Cork and aluminium have taken centre stage in the interiors world. We’re talking cork tiles and flooring. Cork is a completely natural, environmentally friendly material, that is both biodegradable and recyclable, without producing any toxic residue. As a plus, cork has natural thermal properties, so there’s no need to lash out on underfloor heating now 🔥
Aluminium can be seen across cabinetry doors and finer details, including hardware. Our Matte Black products are manufactured from anodised aluminium, as opposed to electroplated brass. Producing high-quality hardware with the lowest carbon emission, this is the more environmentally friendly material yet. You don’t have to compromise on aesthetics either, as we have a range of styles now available in Aluminium 🛍

Wood – Raw Plywood & Walnut

This year is all about spa-like serenity, and what better way to achieve this aesthetic, than with natural, wooden materials? Blend light and dark wood tones to create an elevated cosy environment 🪓
Try raw plywood – this is a more recyclable, biodegradable alternative to MDF, which can be varnished to create a richer colour. Alternatively, opt for walnut to add rich, warm tones to your home. Even better, hunt down your walnut table or shelf down from an antiques market or secondhand store 👌

2. Ceramics

Introducing a new material to the mix, get ready to welcome ceramics in 2023. Playing into the reassuring, retro charm of old-fashioned ceramics and the desire for creating comfort, look out for subtle curvaceous forms, and matte or unglazed finishes, for a sense of welcoming honesty. As well as the more common white ceramics, this avant-garde wave includes earthy tones, such as deep terracottas and calming sage greens 😌
Looking for an easy way to hop on the trend? Check out RAMI, the first of our ceramics range. This full-bodied silhouette oozes interest, thanks to its soft, matte glaze. Now available in a range of curated finishes, including Flora Pink, Matte White, Stone Grey and Muted Sage Green.

3. Bold colour trends ☀

You may be wondering, what’s the trending colour for 2023? It’s looking rich and bold thanks to the following duo 🎨

Yellow cabinets, waved shelving and warm woods? Yes please 🙌

Yellow Kitchens

Spotted near the end of 2022, sunny yellow kitchens will only get more popular in 2023. Best of all, there’s a shade for everyone, from more mellow, neutral yellows to dijon mustards.
Dulux announced their colour of the year as ‘Wild Wonder’ – a soft, golden yellow with neutral green undertones. Inspired by the natural world, this is an uplifting colour that isn’t too difficult to style. A louder option is a rich, mustard yellow. Already warming up plenty of kitchens, this colour is a real mood-lifter, and can easily be accentuated with brass hardware 🌟

Pantone’s Viva Magenta

Pantone has claimed Viva Magenta as the colour of the year – a rebellious red tone that sits in between warm and cool. We’ve already been bringing the outdoors in, whether that is through house plants or waved, sea-like textures. Viva Magenta is inspired from the carmine dye of the cochineal beetle, merging original matter and the ever-evolving horizons of the interiors world 🐜
Make a powerful statement with Viva Magenta cabinetry, or pepper throughout your home for an eye-catching accessory, for instance, with your hardware. Excited by this new, lively colour, we just had to see how Viva Magenta would look on our LUDLOW 💭

4. Smart storage solutions 💡

Kitchen wall cabinets are so last year. In 2023, we’re all about creating a spacious, clutter-free space for our overall well being. We’ll see plenty of smart storage solutions, including open shelving in kitchens and practical pantries with pull-out larder cupboards.

These storage solutions will be seen outside the kitchen and pantry, too. With more of us working from home, a clever office station is a necessity. Tuck away your day's work with an understairs office space, or an upcycled drinks cabinet for a practical workspace by day, and a winddown station by night 🥂

5. Arches & curves ⭕

Inspired by the natural forms seen outdoors, arches and curves are making their stamp on the interior design world. Soft curves are smoothing the angular lines we’ve most commonly seen throughout the years.
Think arched doors, windows, mirrors or motifs throughout decor. For a more bold, creative twist on the trend, why not paint arched borders on walls to break up segments of space? 🖌

6. Reeded glass & panelling

Deep grooves and sleek edges are back. It's time to introduce fluted and reeded accents to your space, with reeded glass & panelling 👋
Whether on kitchen cabinets or TV sideboards, reeding adds a contemporary twist to any unit. Like frosted or mottled glass, reeded glass disguises the bits n’ bobs that aren’t display-worthy, all whilst adding interest to regular glass cabinets 😎
You don’t need to break the bank to replace glass panels. Simply cut, peel and stick window film to the glass of your cabinets, to instantly achieve the reeded glass look. Or, secure reeded moulding onto wooden cabinets, for a hardy take on the trend 👌
